Bukbyeongsan 북병산

📍trailhead

Possibly my favorite hike in Geoje for its relative ease and amazing views. The trailhead to Bukbyeongsan starts halfway up the mountain so you won’t have too far to go to start taking in the views.

There is parking available on the roadside across the street from the trail head. The peak itself is just 1.4km from here. There are a few rocky outcrops near the top that are great spots where you can relax and have a picnic while taking in the views over Irun-myeon and Gujora Beach.

After returning to the trailhead, if you haven’t gotten your fill of hiking, try Hakdong Gogae Pass. Its trailhead is directly across the street from the Bukbyeongsan trailhead, and will take you an additional 5.5km, ending up near the Geoje Natural Recreation Forest.

Alternate Routes

If you are looking for a longer hike, you can start this hike at another trailhead behind Mr. Jun Pension in Irun-Myun (Manyang Village). You have two choices,

  1. You can follow the trail straight up the mountain taking you 3km to the peak.

  2. You can follow the trail to the left 2.4km to the peak, stopping by the “wish stone” (소원맷돌바위 가는길) and make a wish along the way.

Once at the peak you can loop back the way you came (through either of these alternative trails), or keep on going to the main trailhead suggested above, for a 3.6-6.0 km hike (depending on which route you choose).
