byeokbangsan 벽방산 650.3 meters

4.63km loop

📍trailhead

This is another off-island hike, but not too far from Geoje. This hike started in an area directly off the highway that I always noticed when passing through but never really thought about what mountain lies behind the little village nestled underneath. I was delighted when I realized where I was and excited to start off on a lil’ adventure.

There is a decent sized parking area for this hike and nearby temples. I don’t recall now, but I believe I paid a 2000₩ flat fee for parking. The trailhead started next to the parking lot and was easy enough to follow.

The trail starts off as roadway, and would take just 2.3 kilometers to reach the peak. After a short distance, there will be a road that veers to the left towards Anjeongsan (temple) (안정사). Don’t bother stopping on your way up because this is where you will finish the hike coming from the opposite direction.

Continue right.

Soon, you will be following a proper trail but be prepared that it will cut across the roadway often.

Keep following the signs heading for Byeokbangsan peak (벽방산정상) and you won’t get lost.

Eventually you will arrive at Uisangam Hermitage (의상암). This was a lovely little highlight along the way.

After that I continued along towards the peak, there were some nice spots along the way.

Finally made it to the peak and snapped a few pics before moving on for lunch.

After lunch, I started to make my way off the mountain in the direction of Anjeongsa (temple) (안정사). Once again the trail was easy enough to follow.

At one point, I emerged onto a dirt roadway with some exercise equipment. I thought that I had lost the trail, but it was easy enough to find it by crossing the road and going slightly to the left behind a bench.

Re-enter the trail here.

The last stop of this looping hike was Anjeongsa.

This wasn’t my favorite hike, but it was still enjoyable in certain parts. If you’re looking for something in this general area though, I would reccomend Gujeolsan or Georyusan over this one.
