📍trailhead

In October of 2024, I set off for an off-island hike in Haman (Gyeongnam). I saw pictures of Yeohangsan on instagram, the way I usually “discover” most new-to-me mountains, and wanted to check it out for myself.

Trail Stats

I was really surprised the parking lot for the mountain was so big! I had brought my drone with me, but based on how many cars I saw in the parking lot decided to leave it in the car so as not to disturb other hikers. As it turned out, I was kicking myself since I only encountered a few other hikers on the peak.

From what I can see from naver maps street view, these signs have since been removed.

In the parking lot, you’ll find a map with the different trail options. I chose to go up Course 3. I originally opted for Course 1 on the return, but was advised by some other hikers at the top that it was extremely steep and hard on the knees. So I chose to return on Course 2 (which was still quite steep.

You'll walk for approximately 10 minutes through the village to reach the start of the trailhead. Like most hiking trails throughout Korea, this one is easy to navigate thanks to the clear signage that guides you along the way.

Lovely persimmon tree in fall.

Enter the trail for Course 3 here.

Course 3 is about a 1.7km hike to the peak. It’s steep in parts but overall a straightforward hike, with some stairs towards the end.

Getting closer!

At the peak area, there is a series of boardwalks and stairs to keep you safe.

At the peak, there was an incredible view on both sides of the ridgeline!

So lucky to have clear skies!

Overall, this is a pretty straightforward hike, with not much to see until you reach the top. The views in all direction make it more than worth the effort though. From here, I returned in the direction I came from but opted to turn off to take Course 2 down. Alternatively you could continue on to another mountain, Seokbulsan, further along the ridgeline.
